A high-growth consumer products company in the social gaming space is seeking a Brand Marketing Director to lead brand strategy, creative direction, and integrated campaign execution across digital, ecommerce, and retail channels.
This company develops category-defining tabletop products designed to bring people together in real life. Their products are distributed nationally through major retail and ecommerce partners, and the brand has built a strong reputation for bold, irreverent, and culturally relevant marketing.
This is a highly visible role responsible for shaping how the brand shows up in the world—owning top-of-funnel storytelling while ensuring it translates into measurable performance and revenue impact.
Location: Hybrid (San Diego area)
Reports to: Co-CEO
Team: 1 direct report (Social/Content)
The Role
Brand & Creative Strategy (~40%)
- Lead high-level brand and campaign ideation across launches, seasonal moments, and evergreen initiatives
- Own creative direction across campaigns, content, UGC, and ecommerce assets
- Ensure cohesive brand storytelling across paid media, retail marketing, ecommerce, and organic channels
- Leverage performance data and campaign insights to continuously refine messaging and creative output
Organic Social & Creator Strategy (~35%)
- Own organic social strategy with a strong emphasis on TikTok and creator-led growth
- Define content strategy (formats, themes, cadence, experimentation) to drive engagement and reach
- Lead TikTok Shop strategy including product selection, affiliate programs, and promotional tactics
- Build and scale creator/affiliate ecosystem to drive conversion through content
- Manage and develop a Social/Content Specialist
- Continuously optimize performance based on trends, analytics, and platform evolution
Marketing Strategy & Planning (~20%)
- Partner with marketing leadership to define annual strategy aligned to revenue goals
- Help prioritize marketing investments across campaigns, launches, and channels
- Translate brand strategy into integrated go-to-market plans across paid, ecommerce, and retail
- Identify new growth channels, platforms, and acquisition opportunities
- Contribute to product launch strategy and prioritization
Leadership & Cross-Functional Impact (~5%)
- Participate in leadership planning and company-wide strategy discussions
- Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and team development
- Support broader strategic initiatives as needed
What They’re Looking For
Core Experience
- 7+ years in brand, campaign, or consumer marketing
- Proven track record leading creative strategy and integrated campaigns that drive both awareness and revenue
- Experience in consumer products, ecommerce, or retail-driven businesses
- Strong understanding of social-first and creator-led marketing (especially TikTok and affiliate ecosystems)
- Experience translating brand into performance across paid, ecommerce, and retail channels
Capabilities
- Strong creative instincts paired with analytical rigor
- Ability to operate at both strategic and executional levels
- Excellent cross-functional leadership and prioritization skills
- Clear, compelling brand storytelling and messaging ability
Preferred
- Experience marketing products sold through major retail channels (e.g., big box or national retailers)
- Experience building campaigns around product launches, seasonal moments, or retail tentpoles
- Background in content production, UGC, or directing creative shoots
- Experience working closely with founders or executive teams
