Lighthouse Technology Services is partnering with our client to fill their Senior Scrum Master position! This is an 8+ month contract opportunity with a strong preference for hybrid in Buffalo, NY, but can be Remote for the right candidate. This role will be a W2 employee of Lighthouse Technology Services. No C2C.
Position Overview:
Provides servant-leadership and mentorship to multiple cross-functional agile teams through effective application of Agile principles and frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, and Extreme Programming (XP). Strengthens understanding of effective practices, theories, and techniques to support continuous improvement. Educates and coaches teams to foster self-organization, collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement while ensuring visibility of team progress and impediments to stakeholders.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Utilize a broad knowledge base of agile practices including user stories, retrospectives, story mapping, ATDD, TDD, continuous integration, pairing, and information radiators to build high-performing teams
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement through transparency, collaboration, and retrospectives
- Develop and curate coaching content to guide teams on agile best practices
- Facilitate agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Promote workflow transparency through effective use of information radiators
- Remove blockers and escalate issues beyond team authority to keep teams focused on goals
- Collaborate with other Agile leaders to enhance Agile adoption across the organization
- Mentor less experienced Scrum Masters
- Support ongoing learning through communities of practice, conferences, and training opportunities
- Ensure adherence to risk and regulatory standards, identifying and escalating issues as needed
- Design and maintain internal controls to mitigate risk
What You'll Need to Have:

Agile Delivery: Strong experience applying Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, XP) in team environments

Jira: Deep knowledge and hands-on experience using Jira for agile project tracking and reporting

Team Facilitation: Proven ability to facilitate agile ceremonies and drive team collaboration
- Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of experience on agile teams, including 2+ years as a Scrum Master
- OR equivalent combination of education and experience (8+ years total with relevant agile experience)
- Experience fostering team self-organization and continuous improvement
- Strong understanding of Agile and Lean principles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lead through influence without direct authority
Preferred:
- Experience across multiple technology roles (project management, UX, development, testing, etc.)
- Background in project management in addition to Scrum Master experience
- Experience developing or managing digital capabilities
- Understanding of Design Thinking principles
Pay Range: $45 - $50/hr
