The vice president of business services plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing the Business Services department of our organization. This position requires a strategic leader who can ensure that resources are utilized efficiently and effectively to support the organization's mission and goals. The incumbent will be responsible for the oversight of the Purchasing, Information Technology, Facilities, and Business Operations departments. The vice president will work closely with the executive team to ensure the organization's financial sustainability, operational efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.


Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Purchasing Department:

• Ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of resources while maintaining quality standards;

• Implement procurement strategies that align with the organization's budget and mission;

• Foster relationships with vendors and suppliers to support the organization's needs and negotiate favorable terms.

2. Information Technology Department:

• Enhance the organization’s technological capabilities to support its programs and services;

• Ensure the reliability, security, and accessibility of IT systems to minimize downtime and disruption;

• Provide training and support to staff members to optimize their use of technology and improve productivity.

3. Facilities Department:

• Ensure that facilities meet regulatory standards and licensing requirements for child care operations;

• Implement preventive maintenance programs to prolong the lifespan of facilities and equipment;

• Oversee space planning and utilization to optimize the layout and functionality of facilities;

• Enhance the aesthetics and functionality of facilities to create a welcoming and conducive environment for children and families.

4. Business Operations Department:

• Streamline administrative processes to reduce overhead costs and administrative burden;

• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements governing nonprofit organizations and childcare services;

• Support the strategic objectives of the organization through effective management of resources and operations.


Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in education, business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field;

• Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead a team and develop and implement strategic plans;

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with prospective families, community partners, and internal stakeholders;

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment;

• Passion for the mission and goals of the organization, with a commitment to providing high-quality care and education to children and families in need.


Reports to: The chief finance and administrative officer


Job Specifications:

• Exempt, full-time, twelve-month work year;

• Eight-hour workday; Four-day work week;

• Opportunity for hybrid-work schedule may be available and to be determined by management;

• Limited evening or weekend hours may be required;

• Employment responsibilities, compensation, or any other factor may be affected by changes in governmental regulations, the organization’s contracts, or at the organization’s discretion.


Environment: Team-oriented, general office environment.


Salary: $155,000 - $175,000 per year


Physical Requirements: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; to operate a motor vehicle to visit various meeting sites; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing and walking between work areas may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Incumbents in this position occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Incumbents must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 25 pounds.
