The vice president of finance plays a crucial role in managing the organization’s cross-functional Finance Department that oversees the accounting responsibilities for multiple state and federally funded programs across the San Gabriel Valley.

This position requires a strategic leader who can ensure that resources are utilized efficiently and effectively to support the organization's mission and goals.The vice president will work closely with the executive team to ensure the organization's financial sustainability, operational efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.


Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership, direction and management to the finance and accounting teams;

• Deliver strategic decision-making recommendations to the chief financial and administrative officer;

• Manage the processes for financial forecasting and budgets, and oversee the preparation of all financial reporting;

• Maximize return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems;

• Provide financial status by collecting, interpreting and reporting financial data;

• Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends;

• Comply with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on necessary actions;

• Develop, implement and fine tune the organization’s internal controls, policies and procedures related to accounting and fiscal compliance;• Assist, train and liaise with organization directors and managers to ensure policy and procedure compliance, as well as to simplify fiscal related policies, procedures and workflows;

• Maintain knowledge and application of current GAAP standards, updates, new FASB’s, and other relevant pronouncements;

• Manage the organization’s banking relationships and oversee and report on investment performance;

• Participate as a member of the leadership team and serve as the key financial staff member for the Finance Committee and Audit Committee;

• Assist the chief financial and administrative officer as needed.


Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, financial management, or a related field;

• Ten years supervisory/management experience in accounting/finance;

• Strong organizational, mathematical and analytical skills;

• Excellent command of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications and computerized accounting systems;

• Ability to function well in a team environment and understand different perspectives;

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;

• Ability to independently identify problems, needs and opportunities for improvements, to develop solutions and implement plans/solutions;

• CA driver’s license, daily use of an automobile and automobile liability insurance.


Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience as a controller, director of accounting or similar position;

• Experience with state and/or federal funding;

• Earned CPA via auditing experience;

• Knowledge and understanding of GAAP non-profit accounting standards;

• Experience in managing processes;

• An MBA is highly desired.


Reports to:

The chief financial and administrative officerJob Specifications:

• Exempt, full-time, twelve-month work year;

• Eight-hour workday; Four-day work week;

• Opportunity for hybrid-work schedule may be available and to be determined by management;

• Limited evening or weekend hours may be required;

• Employment responsibilities, compensation, or any other factor may be affected by changes in governmental regulations, the organization’s contracts, or at the organization’s discretion.


Salary:

$160,000 - $180,000 per year


Environment:

Team-oriented, general office environment.


Physical Requirements:

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office

equipment, including a computer; to operate a motor vehicle to visit various meeting

sites; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and

speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. This is

primarily a sedentary office classification although standing and walking between

work areas may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve

data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office

equipment. Incumbents in this position occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push,

and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Incumbents must

possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 25 pounds.
