Tax Compliance Manager - Christian Ministry
A Christian ministry based in the Alpharetta, GA area is seeking a Tax Compliance Manager to oversee tax-related processes for its charitable donors. This role ensures adherence to relevant federal and state tax regulations, including the preparation and review of essential filings.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and review the filing of various international forms for multiple organizations.
- Manage the preparation, review, and filing of Form 990s and 990-Ts for multiple entities.
- Prepare quarterly projections for assets subject to federal and state UBIT, calculating and filing quarterly estimated payments for federal and state taxes.
- Analyze sales and distributions of non-liquid (“NL”) assets for UBIT, calculating the estimated federal and state UBIT to be withheld if applicable.
- Provide analysis, input, and assist with formulating tax management strategies to effectively manage tax rates for entities.
- Communicate findings to the Gift Planning, NL Asset teams, and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to decision-making regarding NL Gifts/Assets, single-member LLCs (disregarded entities), CGAs, and Life Insurance.
- Assist the NL Department with Excess Business Holdings (“EBH”) assets.
- Support the GPs, DD Team, RMs, CAA, and Asset Managers with questions related to UBIT and gift intake.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance
- Masters in Accounting, Finance or Tax, focus in ministry or related field is preferred
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
- Seven years of accounting and tax experience required; federal and state tax audit and Form 990 and Form 990-T preparation experience, a plus
- Two to four years supervisory experience
- Familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for recording and reporting Non-Liquid Assets and related accounting requirements for Non-Profit Organization Taxation (i.e. FIN 48 {new FASB ASC 740} and SFAS 109)
