Sr. Recruiting Specialist Job Description
Position Type: Full Time, Exempt
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
Reports To: VP, Human Resources
The Sr. Recruiting Specialist is responsible for managing the recruiting function, working with hiring managers to source qualified candidates to fill open positions, while providing a positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.
Role and Responsibilities
- Manage the full recruiting process from initial intake meetings through candidate selection, offer, and onboarding coordination with the HR team.
- Partner closely with hiring managers to understand position requirements, business needs, team dynamics, and the characteristics that define success in each role.
- Conduct thorough intake meetings that uncover not only the immediate hiring need, but also future talent needs, organizational challenges, and long-term workforce planning opportunities
- Develop sourcing strategies tailored to difficult-to-fill positions, geographic markets, and specialized roles rather than relying solely on job postings.
- Build and maintain strong talent pipelines while identifying candidates for both current openings and anticipated future opportunities.
- Create and manage job advertisements across multiple platforms and proactively source candidates through various channels.
- Screen and evaluate candidates to assess qualifications, skills, cultural fit, and long-term potential. Present well-vetted candidates to hiring managers with clear recommendations and supporting rationale.
- Schedule and coordinate interviews between candidates and hiring managers while ensuring a positive and efficient candidate experience.
- Collaborate on administering assessments to evaluate candidate skills and abilities.
- Build strong relationships with hiring managers and candidates, provide status updates, and maintain excellent communication throughout the recruiting process.
- Train managers on recruiting best practices and promote consistent hiring processes across the organization.
- Maintain accurate candidate records and reporting within the applicant tracking system (ATS).
- Support the implementation and ongoing utilization of the ADP Workforce Now Recruiting platform.
- Monitor recruiting metrics and provide data-driven insights to improve hiring outcomes, sourcing strategies, and overall recruitment effectiveness.
- Identify trends and obstacles affecting recruiting success, including compensation, leadership, culture, job design, or market conditions, and partner with leadership to develop solutions.
- Stay current on employment laws, recruiting best practices, industry trends, and legal considerations related to hiring.
- Assist with additional duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Prior experience in Recruiting with knowledge of the screening, interviewing, and hiring process is required
- Proven success in conducting interviews using various methods (phone, video, email, in person)
- Familiarity with job boards and computer systems designed specifically for Recruiting
- Good computer skills and thorough knowledge of MS Office
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines while multi-tasking
- Self-sufficient and comfortable working independently
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to develop creative sourcing strategies for difficult-to-fill positions and build talent pipelines for future hiring needs.
- Experience using recruiting metrics, data, and hiring trends to improve recruiting outcomes and advise hiring managers.
- Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS); experience with ADP Workforce Now is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to ask thoughtful questions, identify underlying hiring challenges, and recommend solutions.
- Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to identify candidates who are the right long-term fit for the organization.
