Staff Accountant
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and updating accounting records to include reconciling project bank statements; all financial statements and general ledgers as required by JV Agreements.
- Recording daily financial transactions: purchases, sales, receipts; and other financial activities. Preparing and reconciling journal entries
- Preparing financial statements for equity/joint venture partners to include creating balance sheets, income statements, trial balances, general ledgers and cashflow statements
- Reconciling accounts: bank, general ledger and other financial accounts in accordance with GAAP practices
- Assisting with audits and compliance requirements with equity/joint venture partners
- Tax preparation by providing required financial information to CPA’s assigned to projects
- Assist with construction loan/equity draws as needed; track project expenses with budget tracker
- Maintaining and updating accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Ability to interact with vendors; equity, bank and JV Partners
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
- Proficiency in using QuickBooks, Excel. (Yardi or other related software preferrable but not required).
- Good communication skills and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field or 3-5 years experience
- Real estate knowledge or real estate project accounting experience is a plus
