Lawrenceville based specialty distributer serving only the Child Care market is looking to hire a Non-CDL Delivery Driver. This is a full-time, permanent, home daily position. Monday - Friday, 4am - 1pm shift, Hourly pay $24-26 per hour based on experience.
JOB SUMMARY
Non-CDL Drivers safely perform all aspects of operating a 26-foot box-style delivery truck (under 26,000 pounds) for the purpose of courteously and accurately delivering and unloading products, including paper goods, janitorial supplies and food products. Duties are performed in a timely manner while providing clients with elite customer service. Role also includes training and support for warehouse operations.
DOT/FMCSA/Insurer REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Meet all Driver Qualifications for DOT, FMCSA, and Insurer compliance (CDL not required)
- 5-8 years 24-26 Ft Box Truck Experience Preferred, 5 years Required
- Be able to pass a DOT Medical Exam
- Have a valid GA driver’s license
- Have a qualifying motor vehicle record (MVR) for the past 3 years and have no DUI citation or other DOT major violation within the last 5 years
- Submit to a criminal background check and meet hiring guidelines for work within the childcare industry
- Submit to pre-employment drug screening, meet the requirements of and abide by all aspects of the Georgia Drug Free Workplace Program
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Regularly load, deliver and unload all kinds of products that we supply to our customers
- Deliver all products accurately and as efficiently as possible
- Review each order with the customer to verify that all products are correct and to their standards, prior to having the customer sign the invoice
- Receive payments from customers and promptly turn them in upon return to warehouse
- Do everything within reason to handle customer needs before leaving the center
- Pick up returns from customers as needed
- Call appropriate Customer Service Specialist with any delivery related discrepancy
- Empty truck of all products, milk crates, trash, and hand trucks upon returning to the warehouse
- Properly maintain vehicle maintenance logs
- Properly fill out delivery paperwork
- Pick up any product from suppliers as needed
- Takes vehicles to repair shops as needed
- Consult with Driver Supervisor or Fleet Operations Manager regarding problems and questions
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections, and immediately report concerns to Fleet Operations Manager
- Fuel truck daily prior to returning to warehouse
- Prepare accident and incident reports as needed
- Operate vehicles with a focus on safety and customer courtesy
- Treat all customers with the utmost courtesy and respect
- Provide elite customer service and build solid professional relationships with clients
- Understand and adhere to the rules and regulations of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Authority (FMCSA), the United States Department of Transportation (DOT), and Company Insurer Guidelines
- Keep assigned vehicle clean inside and out
- Utilize professional Verbal and Written Communication
- Work as a team with other drivers and warehouse employees to load trucks in a safe manner
- Learn and maintain knowledge of products
- Complete Driver and OSHA safety training as directed
- Perform stocking and receiving duties when needed in warehouse
- Abide by Values and Behaviors and Policies and Procedures
- Support and follow Vision, Mission, Pillars, Employee Guidelines, Policies and Procedures
- Participate in Safety and Drug Free Workplace programs and training
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and team building opportunities
- Ensure ongoing development of elite customer service skills; specifically striving to meet or exceed customer expectations, as well as driver compliance skills, DOT and FMCSA guidelines
- Daily interaction with fellow Drivers, customers, Supervisor, Warehouse Associates, and Operations Managers
- Perform other projects, duties and responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-8 years or more of driving experience in a 24-26ft box truck preferred, 5 years required
- 5 years or more of experience in Customer Service with an outgoing personality
- Broadline food distribution experience preferred
- Ability to work well as a team
- Ability to physically lift 60 pounds regularly to load, unload, and deliver products
- Ability to use stand-up or lay-down hand truck loaded with up to 500 pounds of product
- Ability to pull a stand-up or lay-down hand truck up steps with 200 pounds of product
- Ability to lift 60-pound hand truck from the ground to the box of a 26 ft Box Truck
- Ability to perform work requiring frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, feeling and repetitive motion
- Ability to frequently climb in and out of the delivery truck (cab and box)
- Ability to navigate a 26 ft Box Truck in both city and highway driving environments
- Ability to navigate a 26 ft Box Truck in small parking lots, close to buildings, and vehicles
- Ability to back into tight areas that include small parking lots and narrow dock lanes without assistance
- Ability to use an electric pallet jack or manual walk behind pallet jack
- Dependable worker able to carry out a series of work instructions without constant supervision
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret maps and driving directions
- Ability to recognize vehicle maintenance needs
- Ability to maintain vehicle logs
- Ability to professionally handle stressful situations when dealing with upset customers
SCOPE OF WORK
- Reports to the Driver Supervisor
- Drives for a Short-haul, 150-mile radius, Intrastate Georgia Carrier
- Drives a Commercial Motor Vehicle over 10,000 pounds and under 26,000 pounds (No CDL required)
- Has the authority to resolve damage or order error scenarios (based on department guidelines) to ensure customer satisfaction
