About the Company

Our client is a specialist, fast-growing insurance brokerage and underwriting business with an excellent reputation across the London market. Known for their technical expertise and entrepreneurial culture, they work closely with global partners to deliver bespoke insurance solutions across multiple lines.

Due to continued expansion, they are now looking for an experienced Assistant Underwriter with a background in US Property to join their highly skilled underwriting team.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong insurance professional to take on a key role supporting the underwriting of US property risks. You’ll work alongside experienced underwriters, supporting both the analysis and execution of complex risks, while helping maintain strong broker relationships and ensuring operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will already have experience working within the US property market (open market or binder business) and be eager to further develop their underwriting expertise in a collaborative, growth-focused

environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support underwriters in the review, analysis, and underwriting of US property accounts, ensuring adherence to risk appetite and underwriting guidelines.
  • Prepare and manage documentation including slips, endorsements, and binders.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with compliance and audit requirements.
  • Liaise with brokers to gather risk information, respond to queries, and support the placement of business.
  • Contribute to portfolio analysis, pricing, and renewal processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency and strengthen client/broker relationships.

About You

  • Proven experience in an underwriting support or assistant underwriter role within US property (essential).
  • Strong understanding of the London insurance market, terminology, and processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, able to interact confidently with underwriters and brokers.
  • Proactive, analytical, and eager to learn.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment (3 days in London office, 2 remote).

What’s on Offer

  • Salary up to £75,000, depending on experience.
  • Hybrid working model (3 office days per week).
  • Opportunity to work closely with highly experienced underwriters on a diverse portfolio of US property risks.
  • Collaborative, ambitious, and professional working environment.

Due to the high amount of interest that we receive for each of our roles unfortunately we cannot respond to each application individually, therefore if you do not hear back from one of our consultants you have not been shortlisted for this role.

Please note that our client is an equal opportunities Employer and adheres to all relevant legislation and offer services regardless of age, race, sex, disability, or religious belief.
