Shape the Future of Data and AI with the Ada Lovelace Institute.

The Ada Lovelace Institute is an independent research institute with a mission to ensure that data and AI work for people and society. We believe that a world where data and AI work for people and society is a world in which the opportunities, benefits and privileges generated by data and AI are justly and equitably distributed and experienced. We were established by the Nuffield Foundation in 2018, in collaboration with The Alan Turing Institute, the Royal Society, the British Academy, the Royal Statistical Society, the Wellcome Trust, Luminate, techUK and the Nuffield Council on Bioethics.

We have just launched our 2025–2028 strategy, setting an ambitious agenda for the next three years. We will explore how data and AI interact with people and services, examine models of governance that serve the public interest, and confront the power imbalances that shape our technological landscape. Above all, we will amplify people’s voices, hopes and concerns as AI becomes increasingly woven into everyday life.

As part of their ongoing evolution, they are seeking a new Associate Director – Emerging Technology and Industry Practice to define, implement and oversee Ada’s research strategy exploring how to embed consideration of people and society into the design and deployment of emerging technologies and develop, oversee and execute a ‘technical fellowship’ model to support inflow of technical credibility and insights to the Ada team

If you want to help shape the future of AI in the public interest, we’d love to hear from you.

The Ada Lovelace Institute are committed to providing equal opportunities for everyone. They acknowledge that people from certain backgrounds are under-represented within the third sector and are committed to doing what they can to correct this. They are particularly keen to receive applications from people of colour and those from ethnically minoritised backgrounds, disabled and neurodivergent people, people who identify as LGBTQIA, and people who identify as working class or from a lower socioeconomic background (now or in the past).
