At Young Enterprise, we want to ensure that young people are given the best chance for a rewarding future in work and in life – no matter where they start their journey. Our mission is to empower young people to discover, develop and celebrate their skills and potential. As a national charity we motivate young people to succeed in the changing world of work by equipping them with the work skills, knowledge and confidence they need.
The UK faces a serious skills gap. A high percentage of young people are not in education or employment, and many leave school without the skills they need to succeed. We work with schools, universities, businesses and influencers to help change this. We passionately believe meaningful opportunities, combined with appropriate support to develop and apply an enterprising mindset and skills, changes young people’s futures.
We work directly with young people, their teachers and parents, businesses and influencers to build a successful and sustainable future for all.
This is a really exciting time to join our charity as a Trustee. Our new CEO, Sarah Porretta, is in the process of refreshing and refining our Transforming Futures Strategy, as well as developing new ideas and innovations for the future. We have a highly motivated and committed Board, team of colleagues, and dedicated volunteers who are passionate about our work and impact.
As we look to build on our heritage as an organisation with over six decades of experience in providing young people with meaningful opportunities, there is huge potential to help us develop the charity to be even more impactful.
We seek new Trustees with expertise and abilities across the following areas:
· HR Lead – Experience gained at a senior level, up-to-date with best practice and emerging trends.
· Education - experience at a senior level, preferably both within a school setting and in a wider role across the sector.
· AI/Digital/Analytics – an individual who understands digital transformation and can champion data security, data compliance and best practice.
· Government & Public Policy – an individual well connected across Government, who can share knowledge and advise on public policy and systems and processes.
We are looking for committed leaders who are passionate about the powerful difference that education in all forms can make to the futures of young people. We want leaders who will ensure that the voices of those we serve are clearly represented on our Board.
We know that diverse perspectives make us stronger, and our continued aim is to bring together a Board who are diverse in ideas, in background, in experience, in outlook and in the views they express. We’re encouraging applications from people who have lived experience of disadvantaged communities or experience of working with young people facing barriers to opportunity. What matters is the ability to bring a strategic lens, and to help us represent the breadth of communities we serve.
If you are excited about our mission and are ambitious for what can be achieved by the charity at this time of political and economic change – we would love to hear from you.
