Head of Communications & Engagement – Pensions Dashboards

Salary: £100,000 + benefits

Lead communications for one of the UK’s most significant digital public services


The Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) exists to improve financial wellbeing across the UK. Sponsored by the Department for Work and Pensions, we ensure people can access trusted guidance and information to make effective financial decisions throughout their lives – from pocket money to pensions.


A flagship priority for MaPS is the delivery of the Pensions Dashboards Service: a once-in-a-generation national digital transformation enabling people to find and view all their UK pensions securely, online and in one place. This is high-profile, high-scrutiny work with material political, operational and reputational exposure, delivered in close partnership with government, regulators and industry.


The role


Reporting to the Executive Director for Strategy, Policy & Governance, with a dotted line to the Corporate Director for Customer Engagement, this is a critical leadership role accountable for end-to-end communications, engagement and reputation management for Pensions Dashboards – spanning launch readiness, launch and early live operation.

You will be a trusted adviser to the Chief Executive and Executive SROs, operating confidently in high-pressure and politically sensitive environments, and ensuring coherence with the MaPS and MoneyHelper brand, channels and governance.


What you’ll be responsible for


You will lead an evidence-led communications and engagement strategy across launch and early live operation, setting a clear, credible narrative that supports readiness, confidence and behavioural change across the pension’s ecosystem. Working at senior level with Ministers, regulators and industry leaders, you will manage issues and reputation in a high-scrutiny environment, oversee high-quality digital and content delivery, lead and resource a high-performing team, and support the transition from programme delivery to a sustainable, service-led model with a coherent long-term brand and narrative.


Who we’re looking for

 

We’re seeking a senior communications leader who thrives in complex, high-scrutiny environments and is motivated by public purpose. You will have strong experience working with Ministers and senior stakeholders, delivering large-scale behavioural and digital communications, and exercising sound judgement in issues and reputation management. A proven ability to lead high-performing teams across multi-organisation programmes is essential, with experience of pensions, financial services, major digital launches or commercial commissioning an advantage.
