Apply for this job

Grade: Director, SCS2

Command: Operations

Reports to: Director General Operations

Location: London, Bristol, Birmingham or Warrington

Frequent attendance at our London offices will be required. Your contractual place of work will be Endeavour Square, Stratford.

Serious and organised crime is one of the gravest threats to the UK’s national security. It blights communities, ruins lives and costs the UK well over £20 billion every year.

The National Crime Agency sits at the heart of the UK’s law enforcement response, protecting the public by disrupting and bringing to justice the serious and organised criminals who pose the highest risk to the country. Investigations is the NCA’s core crime-fighting capability, tackling threats that are beyond the capacity or capability of other law enforcement bodies.

We are now seeking an exceptional senior leader to become our Director of Investigations.

This is a critical leadership role at the centre of the NCA’s operational response. You will provide clear strategic direction across proactive and reactive investigations, ensuring our resources are focused on the highest-priority threats and that the full range of disruptive options is considered.

You will act as the NCA’s Head of Profession for Investigation, professionalising the investigations community, developing talent and ensuring the Agency has the skills, resilience and capability required for the future. You will nurture new talent, create opportunities for learning and development, and build an agile investigations cohort able to respond to changing threats.

You will be responsible for maintaining criminal justice standards, delivering high-quality prosecutions and casework, and ensuring investigative activity is effectively briefed to stakeholders, partners and the wider Agency. You will also lead transformational change across the Command, developing new tactics, capabilities and ways of working that maximise the collective impact of UK law enforcement.

If you are motivated by public service, driven by impact and ready to lead one of the UK’s most important crime-fighting capabilities, we would welcome your application.
