About the Organization

Summit Search Group has been retained by CANTERRA SEEDS on the recruitment of an Operations Coordinator. Guided by the mission to “Grow Connection, One Field at a Time,” CANTERRA SEEDS exists to make a meaningful difference in agriculture by providing Western Canadian farmers with high-quality seed solutions and unparalleled customer service. Their diverse portfolio spans canola, wheat, oats, barley, pulses, and specialty crops, developed through local investments in plant breeding and strategic global partnerships.

CANTERRA SEEDS is headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and is committed to empowering farmers, challenging the status quo, and enhancing the lives of the communities it serves. The organization supports farmers and seed retailers not just as business partners, but as fellow community members who share a genuine understanding of hard work, dedication, and the value of meaningful connections across Western Canada.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations Coordinator is a detail-oriented, data-driven role responsible for strengthening inventory control, transaction accuracy, purchasing support, and operational reporting across CANTERRA SEEDS’ processing facilities and warehouse locations. The role uses internal software and systems to maintain accurate inventory records, support sound valuation and cost decisions, and turn operational data into useful business insight.

This is a full-time, permanent position based at CANTERRA SEEDS’ Head Office in Winnipeg, suited to a highly organized professional with strong analytical skills who thrives in a fast-paced agricultural environment and can balance recurring monthly responsibilities with the demands of a seasonal operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track and manage inventory at processing facilities and warehouse locations using internal systems, maintaining accurate records and ensuring transaction integrity across the supply chain.
  • Perform inventory reconciliation and valuation across facilities and reporting periods, identifying discrepancies and supporting sound cost and purchasing decisions in collaboration with the Operations Manager.
  • Support purchasing processes, including order tracking, supplier coordination, and procurement documentation, ensuring accurate and timely execution aligned with operational plans.
  • Generate operational reports and business intelligence outputs using internal systems, Excel, and data visualization tools, translating complex datasets into clear and actionable insight for leadership.
  • Balance recurring monthly responsibilities with seasonal operational priorities, managing workload effectively and maintaining accuracy and urgency during the busier periods of the agricultural calendar.
  • Travel to processing facilities and warehouse locations as required, approximately 3 to 4 times per year for 2 to 3 days at a time, to support inventory counts, audits, and on-site operational coordination.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Agriculture, Supply Management, Administration, or a related field; 2 to 5 years of experience in a comparable operational or inventory role will be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Strong Excel proficiency, including experience working with large datasets, formulas, pivot tables, and operational reporting; advanced knowledge of inventory control systems is a strong asset.
  • Experience with inventory management systems and transaction-based operational software; familiarity with business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Power BI, ThoughtSpot, or Mode BI is considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail with a disciplined approach to data accuracy and reconciliation, paired with excellent analytical judgment and the ability to translate data into clear, actionable insight.
  • Proven ability to organize and manage recurring responsibilities while adapting to shifting seasonal priorities; excellent organizational, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills, with a strong commitment to teamwork and integrity.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and willingness to travel to processing and warehouse facilities several times per year.
