The Position:

Summit Search Group has been retained by Strauss Event & Association Management on the recruitment of an experienced Event Manager. With nearly 30 years of industry experience and a strong presence in healthcare and business association management, this firm is known for delivering exceptional conferences, trade shows, and signature events across the country.

We are looking for a detail-oriented and dynamic Event Manager to lead the planning and execution of high-impact events across Canada. This role is ideal for an individual who thrives in a client-facing position and brings a blend of strategic thinking, creativity, and operational excellence. You will be responsible for managing the full event lifecycle—from conceptualization and budgeting to logistics and onsite execution—while maintaining a high standard of service and professionalism. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable managing a bustling trade show floor, overseeing the production of a formal gala, or coordinating the seamless delivery of a national virtual conference.

As a key member of the team, you will work directly with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to bring event visions to life, while ensuring each event aligns with the organization’s standards and client expectations. Your ability to adapt, communicate, and execute will play a vital role in delivering successful experiences that leave lasting impressions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary contact for clients, identifying event goals and translating them into comprehensive plans
• Estimate costs and manage event budgets effectively
• Plan and execute a range of events including virtual, hybrid, and in-person formats
• Coordinate logistics including accommodations, catering, A/V, meeting room setup, and program materials
• Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, legal requirements, and insurance policies
• Oversee timelines, staffing, and volunteer coordination
• Provide stakeholders with clear, detailed reporting
• Drive success across all phases of event design, planning, and production

Qualifications:

• 3+ years experience in event management, with a focus on conferences, trade shows, and gala events.
• Post-Secondary education in Marketing, Hospitality or a related discipline.
• Strong interpersonal and client service skills, with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships
• Highly organized and self-motivated, with excellent time management skills.
