Job Title: Repair Specialist II

Type: Contract/Temp

Location: Pearland, TX

Experience: 5-10 years

• Creation of repair processes and standard operating procedures from product technical

requirements for equipment overhauls

• Develops and improves repair processes by studying products and repair methods

Roles & Responsibilities

• Foster an environment of teamwork, compliance and continual improvement

• Ensure compliance with departments standard procedures

• Act as a first line source of information / technical support to craft labor in facility for issues to

do with manufacturing/overhaul process or achieving quality requirements for all shop projects

• Interprets the inspection results and provides an inspection report providing all recommended

repairs, if needed with the aid of Technical Support Group Engineering, and or others as

applicable.

• Evaluates manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication,

assembly, tooling, and materials

• Creation of shop floor work packages (routers and SAP Networks) which have concise systematic

instructions for projects, which include references to the appropriate SOP’s and data record

forms to be utilized, also includes sourcing and inclusion of the relevant technical documents

from DECS (TeamCenter viewing software) with placement into the work router packages

• Creation of in-process inspection forms, when required / lack of TSG resources

• Enters Purchase Requisitions into SAP for parts, materials, vendors, etc. needed on projects

• Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements,

and equipment layout


• Interfaces with Engineering, Quality, and Project Management as needed during the project life-

cycle


• Act as backup and support for other Repair Specialists when required

• Monitor project progress through monitoring of router step progress with proactive

engagement with other personnel and vendors to enact next steps

• Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or

without notice

Requirements

• 5-10 years applicable rotating equipment experience and/or repair shop experience

• Strong interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication

• Strong background in machining, manufacturing, overhaul/repair and assembly of heavy-duty

rotating equipment including single & multi-stage centrifugal, integrally geared, axial, and oil

free screw compressors; steam turbines (including TTV’s and Turning Gears); and expanders

• Experience creating basic tooling drawings utilizing CAD software


• Familiarity with API RP 687 (rotor repairs)

• Strong skills with MS Office and MS Project

• Understanding of material recovery techniques, including but not limited to Flame Spray

Technologies and Welding for rotating equipment overhaul

• Understanding of heat treatment required during manufacturing and refurbishment/repair or

components

• Understanding and ability to define measurement techniques including setup and tooling

selection

• Understanding and selection of appropriate non-destructive testing (MPI, LP, UT, X-Ray) as

needed

• Familiarity with pressure testing (hydro & gas leak) and associated risk-mitigation strategies

• Able to work extended hours or different shifts where necessary during customer outages

Preferred Skills

• Ability to interpret complex machining drawings and geometric tolerances with minimal

assistance, experience on how to transform raw material (casting / forging) into finished product

(turbine shaft, blades, nozzles, diaphragms, etc.) including tooling selection and material setup

• Understanding of the operation and maintenance of steam turbines and multi-stage

compressors

• Understanding of rotor dynamics and with vibration analysis

• Understanding of multiplane slow and high-speed dynamic balancing techniques, including

tolerance calculation and machine set-up in compliance with API and ISO specifications

• Familiarity with CAD / CAM software

• Familiarity with CMM manufacturing

• Familiarity with navigation with ERP systems

• Familiar with SAP
