Sales Director — Northern California
Location: San Ramon, California
Work Arrangement: Hybrid — minimum three days per week in the San Ramon office, primarily Monday through Wednesday
Travel: Regular in-person client meetings throughout the Bay Area
Compensation: Base salary $130,000 - $150,000 with uncapped bonuses

About the Role
A national professional staffing and consulting solutions firm is conducting a confidential search for a Sales Director to support its growing Northern California market.
Based in San Ramon, this newly created role will report to the market’s senior sales leader and will focus primarily on developing and accelerating newer sales professionals. The Director will complement an experienced leadership team by providing hands-on coaching, operational structure, performance management, and direct support on client and opportunity strategy.
The Northern California market is an established, diversified business. The organization has delivered consistent growth and is working toward expanding the market over the next several years.

What You’ll Do
Develop Emerging Sales Talent
- Lead, coach, and develop sales professionals who are early in their careers or within their first several years with the organization
- Provide hands-on coaching in prospecting, objection handling, written communication, client calls, qualification, and deal progression
- Participate directly in client conversations and help sales professionals advance complex or stalled opportunities
- Review account strategies, candidate presentations, pipelines, and sales activity to improve execution quality
- Establish clear performance expectations and reinforce a culture of accountability, urgency, and continuous development
- Support the onboarding and ramp-up of newly hired sales professionals
Bring Structure to Sales Execution
- Create consistent systems for tracking activity, pipeline progression, client engagement, and individual performance
- Maintain accurate reporting, dashboards, spreadsheets, and operating rhythms
- Translate market priorities into actionable plans for the developing sales team
- Identify execution gaps and work directly with sales professionals to address them
- Partner with senior leadership to improve communication, organization, and follow-through across the market
Support Client and Portfolio Growth
- Participate in approximately 20–25 client meetings per week, with a significant portion conducted in person
- Help deepen relationships within existing enterprise accounts while supporting targeted new-logo development
- Coach teams on account qualification, stakeholder mapping, pursuit planning, and opportunity development
- Support expansion across staffing, consulting, and project-based service offerings
- Help increase the market’s consulting and solutions revenue beyond its current mix
- Build relationships with client stakeholders across business, technology, procurement, and executive leadership
Partner Across the Organization
- Collaborate closely with sales, recruiting, delivery, consulting, and executive leadership
- Coordinate with delivery leaders to support consultant placement, performance, and client satisfaction
- Work with internal business partners and technical specialists on complex pursuits
- Promote effective information sharing across accounts and service offerings
- Reinforce established operating practices while identifying opportunities for practical improvement
What We’re Looking For
Must-Have Experience
- Recent, successful experience in a client-facing staffing, professional services, or technology solutions sales role
- Demonstrated success coaching, mentoring, onboarding, or developing sales professionals
- Experience managing high-volume prospecting, pipelines, client meetings, and opportunity progression
- Ability to provide both strategic direction and tactical, in-the-moment sales support
- Experience building and expanding relationships within complex client organizations
- Strong organizational skills, including confidence working with spreadsheets, sales metrics, reporting, and operating cadences
- Ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment across sales, delivery, recruiting, and consulting teams
- Willingness to maintain a consistent presence in the San Ramon office and participate regularly in client meetings throughout the region
Preferred Experience
- Experience in technology staffing, IT services, consulting, or project-based solutions
- Recent experience as a team lead, sales manager, market manager, or newly promoted director
- Track record of successfully ramping early-career sales professionals
- Exposure to statement-of-work, consulting, managed services, or deliverable-based solutions
- Experience supporting enterprise accounts with multiple stakeholders and service lines
- Familiarity with Northern California’s business and technology market
