Azure Lead Cloud Value Architect (Player Coach)

This is a fully remote role open to candidates located anywhere in the United States.


The Role

Our client is expanding their team of Cloud Value Architects and is seeking an Azure Lead Cloud Value Architect to operate as a true player coach.


In this role, you will support a portfolio of healthcare clients while leading, mentoring, and developing a team of Cloud Value Architects. You will act as a senior technical advisor, escalation point, and bridge between engineering teams and executive stakeholders.


Ideally, this individual can also split time supporting the Platform team. Candidates with experience in Java, Rust, or C# will be particularly well aligned for this aspect of the role.

The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience, deep Azure expertise, and a track record of delivering real business outcomes in regulated healthcare environments.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Development

• Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Cloud Value Architects

• Conduct weekly one on one meetings with direct reports

• Manage escalations and support complex client issues

• Partner with senior leadership to improve processes, tools, and team development


Client and Business Engagement

• Serve as a trusted advisor to healthcare clients, from technical teams through executive leadership

• Translate complex cloud and security concepts into clear business value

• Align cloud strategy with cost optimization, compliance, innovation, and operational outcomes

• Communicate effectively with stakeholders, vendors, and C level executives


Architecture and Delivery

• Partner with Cloud Engineering to design, build, and operate HIPAA compliant cloud infrastructure

• Support multi cloud environments across Azure, AWS, and GCP

• Ensure operational excellence, security posture, and regulatory alignment

• Own tasks and projects end to end using approved project management tools

• Manage multiple initiatives concurrently while maintaining delivery quality

• Participate in periodic on call rotations supporting 24 by 7 client needs


Platform Contribution (Preferred)

• Contribute part time to Platform team initiatives when needed

• Collaborate with engineers building internal tooling and platform capabilities

• Apply prior experience with Java, Rust, or C# to support platform development efforts


Required Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the United States

• Seven or more years of experience building and managing cloud based infrastructure

• Prior experience leading and developing technical teams in multi cloud environments

• Strong background aligning cloud strategy with business drivers and executive priorities

• Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred

• Proven ability to translate technical data and metrics into actionable business insights

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Hands on experience architecting and managing Microsoft Azure environments

• Five or more years working with Microsoft cloud services

• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and topology

• Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems

• Experience with PowerShell and Bash scripting

• Working knowledge of DevOps and Infrastructure as Code, Terraform preferred

• Experience with at least one programming language, Python or Go preferred


Certifications

• AWS, Azure, or GCP certifications required

• Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert strongly preferred
