Our client is seeking a Lead Cloud Architect to support a large federal cloud operations and migration program. This role focuses on enterprise-scale Azure infrastructure, post-migration optimization, governance, and cost control within a mature multi-cloud environment.


This is not an application development role. It is focused on infrastructure engineering, cloud operations, and optimization at scale.


Key Responsibilities

• Provide architecture and engineering leadership across a large Azure enterprise environment

• Support post-migration optimization across lift-and-shift and refactored workloads

• Drive cloud cost optimization strategy including Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and subscription governance

• Design and govern enterprise landing zone architecture aligned to Azure best practices

• Lead network and IP strategy including CIDR planning, hub-and-spoke governance, and IP scarcity mitigation

• Oversee Azure Management Group hierarchy and subscription segmentation

• Enforce RBAC, Azure Policy, tagging governance, and least-privilege models

• Support hybrid cloud architecture across Azure and legacy data centers

• Guide monitoring and observability strategy using Azure Monitor and enterprise tools

• Partner with security, network, PMO, and compliance teams in a regulated environment


Required Experience

• 10+ years of IT experience with strong Azure infrastructure depth

• Experience operating in medium to large enterprise Azure environments

• Deep understanding of cloud optimization and FinOps at production scale

• Experience with Reserved Instance and Savings Plan modeling

• Strong Azure networking experience including VNET design, peering, private endpoints, and NAT planning

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, ARM, or Ansible

• Familiarity with Azure Monitor and enterprise monitoring platforms

• US Citizen with ability to obtain Public Trust clearance


Nice to Have

• Experience in federal or regulated environments

• Multi-cloud exposure including AWS

• Experience with Azure DevOps pipelines or GitOps practices
