Job Description: Shop Manager – Sales, Service & Reel Grinding (Dallas, TX)
Location: Dallas–Fort Worth Metro Area
Employment Type: Full‑time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, with occasional Saturday mornings
Compensation: Base salary + percentage of shop profits (final structure to be determined)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly customer‑focused, hands‑on individual to run a small but growing sales, service, and reel‑grinding operation in the Dallas area. This role combines technical work, customer interaction, and shop management. The ideal candidate is self‑motivated, reliable, and passionate about helping customers maintain high‑quality turf equipment.
This position is perfect for someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in craftsmanship, and wants to grow a service center with significant profit‑sharing upside.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all customers—delivering an outstanding, customer‑first experience.
- Understand customer needs, equipment issues, and turf requirements.
- Build long‑term relationships with golf courses, landscapers, homeowners, and sports facilities.
- Provide clear communication on service timelines, pricing, and machine status.
Equipment Service & Reel Grinding
- Perform reel mower sharpening, grinding, and adjustments to OEM standards.
- Diagnose and repair small engines, cutting units, and related lawn equipment.
- Ensure all work is performed efficiently, accurately, and to a high-quality standard.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop.
Sales & Operations
- Assist customers with sales inquiries for new or used equipment, parts, and accessories.
- Process orders, quotes, and invoices using basic computer systems and shop software.
- Track shop profitability, maintain inventory, and support operational planning.
- Support light merchandising and shop presentation.
Pickup & Delivery
- Collect and return customer machines using your own vehicle (mileage or fuel structure to be determined).
- Schedule pickups and drop-offs promptly and professionally.
Required Skills & Experience

Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle suitable for transporting small machinery.
- Previous experience with reel mowers, small engines, or turf equipment is highly preferred.
- Background as a golf course mechanic, landscaper, sports field technician, or similar is an advantage.
- Understanding of different grass types and how they impact reel setup and cut quality.
- Strong computer literacy (email, basic spreadsheets, online systems, service software).
- Excellent attention to detail—both in mechanical work and recordkeeping.
- Outstanding communication skills and a customer‑centric personality.
- Dependable, organized, and able to work independently without direct supervision.
