Staff Accountant

Rockville, MD | Full-time

Nexagen Search is representing a biotechnology company that is hiring for a Staff Accountant to join their finance team in Rockville, MD. This role will report to the Director of Finance and will focus on AP/AR processing, month-end close cycle, along with providing general support across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze customer accounts to identify non-payments, delayed payments, and account irregularities.
• Generate and distribute customer invoices and enter wholesale orders.
• Reconcile customer accounts, investigate discrepancies, and manage payment collections.
• Receive, verify, and process vendor invoices; reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist employees with preparing and submitting expense reports.
• Prepare and file sales and use tax returns.
• Prepare journal entries and support month-end close activities in QuickBooks Online.

Core Qualifications & Experience:

• 3+ years of accounting or finance experience.
• Solid understanding of general ledger, AP/AR, and reconciliations.
• Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Avalara, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation: 80-90k base (depending on experience), 15% annual bonus
