General Responsibilities
Our customer partner is a leading battery testing and battery pack assembly company offering assembly of battery packs and functional testing. This is a key position that reports to the lab operations manager for scheduling, testing priorities, and logistics. The Test Engineer’s role is to satisfy the requirements of our customers and our team members by effectively and efficiently understanding test plan requirements, following test procedures, assisting in on-time delivery, process discipline, including maintaining a clean working environment, continual improvement, and standardization of processes.
Role and Responsibility
1. Follow Lab and Pack Assembly safety requirements and precautions
2. Responsible for ensuring laboratory tests are conducted in accordance with specified standards, test procedures or customer test plans.
3. Responsible for maintaining the test engineer lab notebook to record lab tasks / activities, meetings notes, and testing issues; The lab notebook is reviewed weekly and signed by the Engineering Manager.
4. Communicates testing start and completion issues and ongoing testing status to the Operations Manager. Uses SmartSheet to update test status.
5. Maintain lab preventive maintenance activities including daily/weekly chamber checks, equipment maintenance, data file backups, and calibration. Ensure laboratory test equipment maintenance, repair, and specification.
6. Assists in testing control plans ensuring testing risks and aspects are documented according to testing processes. Creates job labels, job sheets, and Maccor programs.
7. Ensure testing traceability by labeling all samples per procedures, completing equipment calibration dates on job sheets and ensuring all job sheets remain with samples while testing.
8. Support failure analysis, reporting and nonconformity Incident Report reporting.
9. Identify nonconforming work; stop the work and release of test results, when non-conformances are believed to exist. Use the Incident Reporting (IR) process as required.
10. Follow up on corrective actions within 30 days.
11. Evaluate test results and data for accuracy and completeness.
12. Ensure after testing; test stations are cleaned and returned to setup state, tools returned to home location. Assist in keeping the laboratory clean and organized.
13. Engineering compliance with quality and safety programs.
14. Follow shipping procedures and completing delivery receiving records.
15. Liaise with customers and suppliers where necessary.
16. Assist quality in responding to procedure change notices, keeping training records current, and using the Incident Reporting (IR) process to report nonconformities.
17. Other duties as assigned by the President, CTO, Engineering or Quality Manager.
