Trueline's client, a leading law firm based in Hartford, CT, is seeking an Intellectual Property Specialist to join their team in Hartford. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on, practical legal experience working for an innovative firm handling a variety of intellectual property matters.


What You'll Do as the IP Specialist:

- Review client dockets for upcoming deadlines and prepare correspondence notifying clients of requirements

- Prepare and submit electronic filings with the USPTO for trademarks, including applications, responses, extensions, statements of use, renewals, and specimens

- Prepare filings with WIPO, including international trademark applications 

- Communicate with foreign law firms to manage foreign trademark and patent filings

- Assist with trademark clearance searches using USPTO and Saegis databases

- Prepare electronic patent filings like provisional/utility applications, IDSs, responses to office actions

- Prepare formal patent documents like declarations, powers of attorney, assignments

- Maintain and organize electronic patent and trademark files


You'll Succeed as the IP Specialist if you Have:

- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and be a team player 

- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills

- 2-3 years of IP experience using practice management systems 

- Experience monitoring patent/trademark dockets

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and billing software

- Familiarity with preparing/filing documents at the USPTO
