Senior Mechanical Engineer – Test (Space Hardware)
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Test to build and own the test and qualification infrastructure for next-generation hardware.
This is a zero-to-one role—you will define how hardware is tested, validated, and certified for flight.
Day-to-Day:
- Own the end-to-end test and qualification pipeline (requirements → setup → execution → analysis → certification)
- Design and build custom test systems: fixtures, jigs, racks, and integrated setups
- Develop and execute test plans across dynamic environments (load, vibration, shock, deployment, drop)
- Build and manage data acquisition systems (DAQ) and analyze results using Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW
- Define instrumentation strategies (strain gauges, load cells, sensors) and integrate them into test systems
- Partner with design and manufacturing teams to ensure tests reflect real-world conditions
- Establish internal test standards and processes for flight qualification
Ideal Fit:
- 4–15 years of experience in mechanical test engineering for high-reliability hardware (aerospace, automotive, defense, etc.)
- Proven experience building test systems from scratch (not just executing tests)
- Strong experience with DAQ systems and test data analysis
- Hands-on experience with instrumentation and sensors
- Experience owning test campaigns end-to-end
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly hands-on environment
Nice to Have:
- Aerospace or spacecraft testing experience
- Familiarity with qualification standards (NASA or similar)
Tech Stack:
Python • MATLAB • LabVIEW • DAQ Systems • Sensors/Instrumentation
