Associate Family Law Attorney
A California-based family law firm is seeking an associate-level family law attorney with 2-4 years of hands-on experience. This is not an entry-level or practice-transition role. Candidates must have a real foundation in family law, including direct experience with divorce, custody, support, property division, and related drafting or litigation work.
The firm invests heavily in associate development and provides meaningful training, mentorship, and a clear promotion path. Attorneys are expected to focus exclusively on practicing law, with no collections, administrative responsibilities, or secondary business roles.
Location
- Fully remote within California.
- Shared office space is available throughout major California markets for client meetings, depositions, mediations, or other in-person needs, but there is no daily office requirement.
- Required court appearances as necessary.
Compensation
$140,000 - $180,000 base salary + performance incentives and benefits
Ideal Candidate
- 2-4 years of experience as a practicing family law attorney
- Active member of the California Bar
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Currently practicing or recently practiced family law in California
- Foundational knowledge of dissolution, support, custody, and property division
- Experience drafting family law documents such as declarations, motions, memoranda of points and authorities, and settlement-related documents
- Court or hearing experience preferred
- Strong client empathy and communication skills
- Coachable, growth-oriented, and collaborative
- Genuine long-term interest in family law
Writing Samples Required
Candidates must be prepared to submit three writing samples upfront:
- One memorandum of points and authorities
- One declaration
- One sample involving assets/debts and either support or custody issues
