§ Duties:
The incoming Senior Trusts & Estates Associate will serve as a primary architect of wealth preservation strategies, providing nuanced legal guidance to a robust portfolio of family offices, private foundations, and high-net-worth families. This role balances high-level drafting with significant client-facing engagement.
Specific responsibilities include:
⨖ Facilitating high-stakes client conferences to ascertain long-term legacy goals and financial objectives.
⨖ Formulating and drafting complex estate planning instruments, including sophisticated revocable and irrevocable trusts, asset protection vehicles, and specialized tax-efficient transfer documents.
⨖ Overseeing the full lifecycle of probate and trust administration, coordinating with fiduciary accountants and paralegals to ensure seamless execution of decedent estates.
⨖ Preparing and reviewing technical tax filings, specifically focusing on gift tax returns, estate tax returns, and fiduciary income tax returns.
⨖ Conducting advanced legal research regarding evolving tax codes and charitable planning strategies to mitigate tax exposure for closely held businesses and charitable entities.
§ Qualifications:
⨖ Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school with an exemplary academic record.
⨖ Active Florida Bar License in good standing, or a firm commitment to achieve Florida admission within a specified timeframe.
⨖ Four (4) to Seven (7) Years of substantive experience focused on estate planning and fiduciary administration within a reputable law firm setting.
⨖ Demonstrated proficiency in navigating complex tax implications inherent in high-value asset transfers.
⨖ Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to articulate complex legal concepts to sophisticated laypeople.
§ Skills:
⨖ An L.L.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning from a top-tier program is highly preferred.
⨖ Prior experience advising on the unique needs of family offices or multi-generational business succession planning.
⨖ Advanced technical expertise in charitable giving vehicles and foundation governance.
⨖ A proactive, self-motivated approach to practice management with a keen eye for granular detail in complex drafting.
