Lateral Partner: Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Creditors’ Rights

A prominent, full-service Mid-Atlantic law firm with an established regional footprint is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy & Restructuring Partner to expand its bankruptcy and insolvency practice in White Plains, NY.
This role is well-suited for a seasoned partner specializing in debtor-side reorganizations, creditor representation, or corporate debt workouts. The position combines leading complex Chapter 11 reorganizations, bankruptcy litigation, and out-of-court restructurings with expanding the firm’s creditor-side and workout practice across the Hudson Valley and Greater New York areas.

Position Level: Equity or Non-Equity Partner / Senior Counsel.

Base Compensation: $275,000 – $425,000+ USD (Commensurate with portable business and experience).

Key Responsibilities

Insolvency & Reorganization Representation: Lead client engagements involving Chapter 11 reorganizations, Chapter 7 liquidations, Chapter 15 cross-border insolvencies, and out-of-court workouts.

Creditors' Rights & Debtor Advisory: Represent financial institutions, secured and unsecured creditors, creditors' committees, liquidation trustees, and corporate debtors in distressed situations.

Bankruptcy Litigation: Manage all phases of adversary proceedings, contested matters, stay relief motions, asset sales (Section 363), and plan confirmation hearings before U.S. Bankruptcy Courts.

Cross-Practice Collaboration: Partner with the firm's Commercial Litigation, Real Estate, Corporate/Finance, and Government Relations teams to offer comprehensive solutions for distressed assets and workout scenarios.

Practice Expansion: Utilize the firm’s multi-office network to grow your existing client base and originate new regional business.
Qualifications & Experience

Education & Bar: J.D. from an accredited law school; active admission to the New York State Bar in good standing (admission to U.S. District and Bankruptcy Courts for the SDNY and EDNY required).

Experience: 10+ years of dedicated practice in commercial bankruptcy, corporate restructuring, and bankruptcy litigation.

Portable Book of Business: A portable book of business (typically $500k–$1M+ in annual collections) is strongly preferred/required for partner consideration.

Core Competencies: Proven trial advocacy in bankruptcy court, strong negotiation skills in complex debt restructurings, and leadership experience mentoring junior talent.
