§ Duties
The incoming Senior Associate will serve as a lead advisor on nearly exclusive data protection matters, balancing high-stakes regulatory defense with proactive compliance architecture for cutting-edge technology systems.
Core responsibilities include:
⨖ Counseling multi-national corporations on comprehensive compliance frameworks involving the CCPA, GDPR, and emerging state-level privacy statutes.
⨖ Defending clients in complex regulatory investigations and class action litigation involving consumer protection issues, the Stored Communications Act, and wiretapping claims.
⨖ Architecting and refining bespoke privacy notices, terms of service, and internal information security policies to mitigate institutional risk.
⨖ Managing the legal lifecycle of data breaches, including preparation, risk mitigation, and the coordination of rapid-response efforts.
⨖ Negotiating sophisticated commercial agreements involving complex data sharing, including vendor/service provider and cross-border transfer agreements.
⨖ Establishing and overseeing AI governance programs, ensuring alignment with the EU AI Act and evolving domestic artificial intelligence regulations.
⨖ Conducting privacy-centric due diligence for high-value corporate transactions and business combinations.
§ Qualifications
Potential candidates must meet the following absolute requirements to be considered for this partner-track role.
⨖ Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a nationally recognized, ABA-accredited law school with an exemplary academic record.
⨖ Active Bar Membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.
⨖ Five (5) to Six (6) Years of substantive experience in data privacy, regulatory investigations, or cybersecurity litigation.
⨖ Proven track record of direct client engagement and the ability to lead significant, multi-faceted legal projects.
⨖ Direct experience handling matters involving State AG or FTC inquiries and data privacy class action defense.
§ Skills
The following advanced credentials and experiences are highly preferred and will distinguish the most competitive applicants.
⨖ Previous or current tenure within an Am Law 100 firm environment.
⨖ Professional certifications such as CIPP/US or CIPP/E.
⨖ Sector-specific expertise in financial services, digital advertising, biometrics, or telecommunications (TCPA/CAN-SPAM).
⨖ Technical fluency in the mechanics of automated decision-making, profiling, and large language model (LLM) governance.
⨖ A demonstrated commitment to business development and an interest in expanding a personal network within the California tech corridor.
