People Placers is supporting a confidential law firm in their identified strategic hiring of a Mid-Level Project Finance Associate to support Energy & Infrastructure Projects Construction and Operations.


§ Practice Area: Energy & Infrastructure Projects / Project Finance / Renewables & Natural Resources

§ Location: Houston, TX / New York, NY / Toronto, ON / Washington, D.C.

§ Salary: $310,000 to $420,000 Base Salary (Plus eligibility for discretionary year-end performance incentives)

§ Schedule: Full-time, Direct-Hire, Minimum 1,850 hours annual billed target.

§ Duties:

The Mid-Level Associate will act as a core technical advisor in the structuring and execution of multi-billion dollar transactions within the energy transition and traditional infrastructure sectors. This role demands a high-stakes focus on the financial architecture of complex energy assets.


Core responsibilities include:

⨖ Executing Sophisticated Financings by advising on debt and tax equity structures, bridge loans, and private placements for large-scale utility and renewable projects.

⨖ Facilitating Energy M&A by managing acquisitions, dispositions, and joint ventures involving conventional power plants, LNG facilities, and offshore wind farms.

⨖ Leading Project Development by reviewing and negotiating critical commercial contracts, including EPC agreements, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and O&M contracts.

⨖ Monetizing Tax Credits by architecting partnership flips and hybrid structures to optimize the financing of energy transition projects under evolving regulatory frameworks.

⨖ Engaging in Pro Bono Advocacy by dedicating billable-credited time to community legal needs and diverse causes that align with individual passions.


§ Qualifications:

⨖ Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a top-tier, ABA-accredited law school with a record of high academic achievement.

⨖ Active Bar Membership in the state of practice (TX, NY, DC) or Law Society of Ontario for Canadian placement.

⨖ Three (3) to Six (6) years of substantive transactional experience within a major international law firm.

⨖ Demonstrated technical expertise in project finance, debt instruments, and the tax equity landscape.

⨖ Proven ability to provide high-quality work product and exceptional service to a sophisticated global client roster.


§ Skills:

⨖ Specialized knowledge of the LNG sector or emerging technologies like battery storage and carbon sequestration.

⨖ Experience navigating cross-border deal dynamics and collaborating across multiple international offices.

⨖ Strong interpersonal skills to thrive in a hybrid work model (Monday through Thursday in-office) while maintaining peak productivity.

⨖ A desire for long-term career development through the firm's world-class lateral mentor program.
