PACU Nurse Manager - No Weekends!

Location: Austin, TX (Eligible for Relocation Bonus)

Salary/Pay Rate: Up to $130,000/year (Maximum)

Schedule: Day Shift, No Weekends, Full-Time Onsite

Unit/Specialty: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Job Description:

As the PACU Nurse Manager, you will function as a working manager, holding primary responsibility for the day-to-day operations and clinical oversight of the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. This critical leadership role focuses on operational excellence, ensuring effective patient flow, and achieving productivity targets for a team of 18.5 FTEs. Your responsibilities include planning, directing, and controlling staffing assignments, which directly impacts effective department coverage. You will be a key change agent and role model, reviewing and approving personnel performance appraisals, establishing goals for staff, and participating in continuous Process Improvement activities. Furthermore, you will be responsible for reviewing and revising departmental manuals, policies, and protocols, and actively contributing to budget and inventory control for the unit.


Required Skills:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) is REQUIRED.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in OR or Day Surgery.
  • Previous Management experience is REQUIRED.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification.


Preferred Skills:

  • Clinical expertise in Phase I and Phase II Post-Anesthesia Care.
  • Proven success in maintaining productivity targets and managing staffing assignments in a surgical services environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and revise departmental policies/procedures and participate effectively in budget and inventory control.
  • A track record of role-modeling, coaching, and staff development, acting as a highly effective change agent.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations and commitment to current professional growth through continuing education.
