Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

Unit: Internal Medicine Surgery

Location: Woodhull Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY

Shift: Days (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM) | 37.5 Hours/Week

Compensation: $150,000/year

Facility: Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY 11206

Schedule:

  • 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
  • 37.5 hours per week/7.5 hours per day
  • No Oncall Required
  • +$1 per hour for weekends/+ $1.50 per hour for holidays


The Position:

Most nursing leadership roles demand 50+ hours and "on-call" chaos. This Assistant Director of Nursing position at Woodhull Medical Center offers a rare 37.5-hour work week with a consistent 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM schedule. You’ll lead the Internal Medicine Surgery department in the heart of Brooklyn, receiving a competitive $150,000 salary while maintaining the work-life balance that usually disappears at the Director level. Your Impact & Responsibilities

As the ADON for Internal Medicine Surgery, you aren't just a manager—you are a mentor and a strategist. You will:

  • Lead with Excellence: Oversee daily operations for the surgical nursing team, ensuring high-quality patient care and safety.
  • Cultivate Talent: Use your experience to teach and supervise staff, fostering a culture of professional growth and clinical precision.
  • Drive Efficiency: Manage departmental workflows and resources to optimize patient outcomes in a high-volume, meaningful environment.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with the Director of Nursing and surgical staff to implement best practices and maintain regulatory compliance.


Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a decisive leader who understands the complexities of surgical services and knows how to inspire a team.

Education: One of the following prerequisites

  1. Master’s Degree in Nursing + 5 years of nursing experience (including 3 years in a supervisory or teaching role).
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing + 6 years of nursing experience (including 4 years in a supervisory or teaching role).

Active New York State RN License is required.

Expertise in Maternal Child Health preferably
