About Our Client


ErthTech Talent is working with a well-funded (equity and grants) startup that is focused on scaling up manufacturing of their Smart Thermal Battery product, which significantly reduces home CO2 emissions and saves home owners money on their heating bill.


As their team grows, they are hiring a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer who will serve as the key interface with their contract manufacturer to ensure increased production and output over time. As a result, this role will be in person with the contract manufacturer weekly.


The Role

  • Act as the primary point of contact between the company's product development team and the contract manufacturer.
  • Continuously improve the product quality, reduce costs, and improve output speed.
  • Lead manufacturing engineering for thermal storage hardware and software systems.
  • Oversee and prioritize contract manufacturing activities in the Bay Area.
  • Develop tools and processes to enhance product quality and reduce costs.
  • Implement and optimize manufacturing systems like MES, MRP, and ERP.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Implement tracking and management tools for traceability and visibility.
  • Utilize data analytics tools (such as Excel, Power BI, etc.) to analyze production data and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and control plans.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues to minimize downtime and improve product quality.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, field operations, product line marketing and sales to ensure successful product launches and sustained production.


Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • You have worked on the startup of a manufacturing line (ideally as the point person - at least as an advanced participant)
  • You have worked on a range of hardware and electronics manufacturing line start-ups.
  • You have developed and qualified manufacturing tooling
  • You have analyzed, and understood, manufacturing defects, Paretos, yields.
  • You have developed solutions for ongoing problems.
  • You have experience working with a contract manufacturer to improve productivity / output.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Understanding of OEM/CM relationships and experience with yield improvement and quality management and product traceability.


Nice to Have

  • Experience with Python or R for data analysis and test systems.
  • Experience with database tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc).
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Understanding of HVAC systems and industry standards.
