Position Overview: 


The Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC & Yukon branch is looking for a fundraising professional to be take an integral role in the revenue development of key annual Kidney Walk locations taking place communities across BC & Yukon (June) and Tee up for Transplantation Golf Tournament in Kelowna (July).

Since 2008, the Kidney Walk has taken place every year in June in 16 different volunteer led locations across BC. Working closely with a dynamic team you will play a key role in:


  • Provide guidance to leadership volunteers and a Kidney Walk campaign cabinet
  • Achieve participation and revenue targets for each of their assigned Kidney Walk Locations (Vancouver, Surrey, Prince George, Victoria, Kelowna) by developing relationships with key donors and corporate sponsors in each community.
  • As part of the Fund Development Department, this role will provide event day support to the Kidney Gala and other third party / key stewardship events as needed. 
  • Oversee a volunteer committee and achieve revenue goals for the annual T4T Golf Tournament
  • As part of the Fund Development Department, this role will play a significant role in developing and stewarding relationships with Major Gift and Corporate donors to the Foundation.

Committed to the fundraising profession, you have prior experience in organizing and executing community-based fundraising events and prospect development, showcasing your dedication and expertise in this field. You also have experience in making direct asks (individual and corporate) to prospects. 


Previous experience specifically with Fundraising Walks would be an asset.


Events and activities as part of this role include:


A. The annual Kidney Walk (June) Approx. 70% of time

  • This role will ensure participation, oversee event logistics and budgeted revenue goals are met for their assigned Kidney Walk location (15K – 75K based on location).
  • Vancouver – 75K
  • Surrey – 30K
  • Prince George – 20K
  • Victoria – 15K
  • Kelowna – 20K


  • Work with a volunteer Walk Campaign Cabinet Committee to achieve above goals.
  • Build relationships with key individual walk participants and corporate team leads.
  • Develop and manage an annual critical path for their assigned Kidney Walk locations.
  • Work with Philanthropy Officer to secure sponsorship / grants for their Kidney Walk locations.
  • Work with Director of Community Engagement and Volunteers to put together clear volunteer role descriptions and training procedures for event day volunteers.


B. Tee up For Transplant Golf Tournament (July)

Approx. 20% of time

  • Create and manage an annual Critical Path as relates to fund development for the T4T Golf Tournament.
  • Support leadership volunteer committee for the Tee up For Transplant golf tournament with fund development materials.
  • Oversee overall revenue development for the annual T4T Transplant golf tournament by creating meaningful relationships with donors and corporate sponsors.
  • Support committee with ticket sales and sponsorship.
  • Manage the thank you process post-event to donors, volunteers, and corporate sponsors.


C. Third Party Events, Kidney Gala, Individual and Corporate Donor Development:

Approx 10% of time

  • As part of the Fund Development team, support third party fund development opportunities as assigned and provide fundraising insights/event day support to the Kidney Gala.
  • As part of the Fund Development team, create meaningful relationships with individual donors and corporate partners outside of events and guide them through prospect pipeline with LAI in mind.


Requirements:

  • Diploma in Marketing, Communications, Fundraising, or equivalent. 
  • A minimum of 7 years professional fundraising event experience with a charitable organization.
  • Experience making direct asks from individual and corporate partners.
  • A high level of organizational ability, attention to detail, and ability to manage tight timelines.
  • Meetings with prospective and existing donors and corporate partners.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. 
  • Involvement in the Association of Donor Relations Professionals (ADRP), Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) or Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP) or a similar professional organization an asset. 
  • Experience with donor management software like Raisers Edge an asset.

Benefits: 

The Kidney Foundation offers a competitive compensation and benefit package including a competitive salary.

  • Salary range: $70,000 to $85,000.
  • Vacation: Four Weeks Vacation to start with closed office over Christmas Holiday.
