Founding Software Engineer – Healthtech AI Startup

Location: Hybrid (Bay Area preferred) | Remote considered (PST required)

We’re partnering with a seed-stage healthtech startup that’s redefining how people access care in the U.S.—starting with the "first mile" of health. They’re combining AI, behavior-change science, and design-thinking to bring scalable, compassionate care to patients before they reach the doctor’s office. With early traction, paying customers, and support from leading accelerators, they’re ready to grow—and they’re hiring their first full-time engineer to help build what’s next.

As a Founding Engineer, you'll shape the future of the product, ship quickly, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with a seasoned founding team (ex-Microsoft, Stanford, and healthtech unicorns). This is a high-impact role with real ownership and a path to grow into technical leadership.

What You'll Do

• Own full-stack development across new and existing features (Node preferred)
• Rapidly build, test, and deploy tools used by clinicians and patients
• Lead integration of LLM-based tooling (including a 3-way AI-driven chat platform)
• Collaborate closely with product-minded founders and a small, focused engineering team
• Help shape architecture, processes, and engineering culture from day one
• Ensure strong attention to privacy, security, and healthcare compliance standards

What We're Looking For

• Experience building and scaling software products from the ground up (ideally at early-stage startups)
• Solid full-stack skills and comfort with backend and frontend responsibilities
• Familiarity with AI/LLM integrations or a strong interest in learning
• Strong sense of ownership, speed, and attention to detail
• Bonus: Prior experience in healthtech, regulated environments, or leading small technical teams
