The Source and Recruit Company has been retained to assist Belden Construction in the recruitment of a Shop Foreman to join its team in Rutland, Vermont. All candidate inquiries and applications will be handled with the utmost confidentiality.

Position Overview

Belden Construction is seeking an experienced, organized, and hands-on Shop Foreman to oversee the daily operations of its maintenance facility. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the company's fleet, heavy equipment, and tools are properly maintained, safe, and ready to support field operations.

Working closely with company leadership, project managers, and field personnel, the Shop Foreman will lead a small maintenance team, coordinate preventative maintenance programs, manage repair schedules, and maintain accurate equipment records. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically skilled leader who enjoys building efficient systems, mentoring others, and playing a vital role in the success of a growing construction company.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the maintenance shop while promoting a safe, organized, and productive work environment.
  • Develop, implement, and manage preventative maintenance schedules for trucks, heavy equipment, trailers, and company tools.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support maintenance personnel to ensure repairs and maintenance are completed efficiently and to company standards.
  • Review, prioritize, and approve work orders while monitoring repair progress and equipment availability.
  • Coordinate major repairs with outside vendors and service providers when appropriate.
  • Approve and submit employee timecards for shop and maintenance staff.
  • Monitor inventory levels for parts, supplies, and shop equipment while ordering materials as needed.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and equipment histories.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards, DOT regulations, and preventative maintenance requirements.
  • Communicate equipment status, repair priorities, and maintenance planning with leadership, project managers, and field personnel.
  • Assist in onboarding, training, and developing maintenance team members.


Qualifications

Successful candidates will bring a combination of technical expertise, leadership ability, and strong organizational skills, including:

  • Experience as a Shop Foreman, Lead Mechanic, Maintenance Supervisor, or similar leadership role, preferably within the construction, heavy equipment, or transportation industries.
  • Strong working knowledge of heavy equipment, commercial trucks, diesel engines, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and manage a maintenance team.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience using maintenance tracking software and standard computer applications, including Microsoft Excel and email.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred but not required.
