About Samyn-D’Elia Architects

Located in Holderness in the heart of New Hampshire's Lakes and Mountains region, Samyn-D’Elia Architects is an established architectural practice with a history dating to 1980. The firm works across a diverse portfolio of commercial, educational, municipal, preservation, medical, and residential projects throughout New Hampshire.

From its historic studio near Little Squam Lake, Samyn-D’Elia brings together a close-knit team of approximately ten professionals working across architecture and interior design. The firm's size gives team members meaningful exposure to projects, clients, consultants, and senior leadership while maintaining the collaborative environment of a smaller practice.

Role Overview

Samyn-D’Elia Architects is seeking an Associate Architect with approximately 2–5 years of professional architectural experience. Candidates with additional experience, including professionals with up to approximately 10 years in the field, may also be considered where the role represents a strong mutual fit.

The Associate Architect will participate throughout the architectural process, including schematic design, design development, construction documentation, consultant coordination, and construction administration. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with the firm's principals, project managers, clients, consultants, and contractors while contributing directly to a varied portfolio of active projects.

This opportunity is particularly well suited to an architectural professional who values thoughtful design, technical quality, collaboration, and the opportunity to continue developing within a smaller, established practice.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to architectural projects through schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration
  • Prepare and coordinate architectural drawings, construction documents, details, and related project documentation
  • Collaborate with principals, project managers, consultants, clients, contractors, and other members of the project team
  • Assist with coordination across multiple active projects and project phases
  • Participate in client and consultant meetings as appropriate
  • Support construction administration activities, including occasional job-site visits
  • Apply applicable building codes, zoning requirements, and established architectural standards to project work
  • Contribute to technical detailing and the preparation of clear, coordinated drawing sets
  • Maintain effective organization and communication while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Participate actively in a collaborative, professional studio environment

Qualifications

  • Approximately 2–5 years of professional architectural experience preferred; candidates with greater experience may also be considered
  • Professional Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) or Master of Architecture (M.Arch) degree
  • Active pursuit of architectural licensure preferred
  • Experience contributing to commercial, municipal, educational, hospitality, residential, or other comparable architectural projects
  • Strong construction documentation and technical detailing capabilities
  • Familiarity with construction administration and job-site coordination
  • Experience with wood-frame construction preferred
  • Proficiency in Revit
  • Working knowledge of SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with applicable building codes and zoning requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and colleagues
  • Portfolio and/or sample drawing set may be requested during the interview process

Compensation & Benefits

Samyn-D’Elia Architects offers a salary range of $75,000–$85,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The compensation and benefits package includes:

  • Discretionary performance bonus, typically in the range of approximately 5–10% of salary, with the potential for additional compensation depending on performance and circumstances
  • 401(k) with employer match of up to 5%
  • Three weeks of paid time off
  • Paid holidays
  • Professional growth through direct involvement with projects, principals, clients, consultants, and contractors

Work Environment

This is a 100% in-office position based in Holderness, New Hampshire. The standard work schedule is approximately 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The role does not require significant travel. Occasional travel to project sites may be necessary as part of normal project responsibilities, but regular overnight travel is not anticipated.

The firm's location in New Hampshire's Lakes Region provides convenient access to the area's lakes, mountains, skiing, hiking, boating, and other year-round outdoor recreation.

Apply

This is an opportunity to join an established New Hampshire architectural practice where an Associate Architect can contribute meaningfully to projects, work directly with experienced professionals, and continue developing both design and technical expertise.

Candidates who meet the essential educational and professional requirements are encouraged to apply even if their experience does not align perfectly with every preferred qualification.

All inquiries, applications, and candidate conversations will be handled confidentially by The Source and Recruit Company.
