Overview of the Role
IMTT-NTL Ltd., operator of Newfoundland Transshipment Terminal (NTL), is a state-of-the-art, 3-million-barrel crude oil storage / transshipment facility located in Whiffen Head, Newfoundland and Labrador, that seeks to deliver operational excellence and exceptional customer service by providing safe, environmentally responsible, reliable, and cost-effective crude oil transshipment services.
Reporting to the Maintenance/Projects Coordinator, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing day-to-day recurring maintenance tasks, as well as emergency maintenance and repairs on all production-related equipment (electrical, instrumentation, etc.) and non-production equipment (vehicles, shop equipment, emergency response systems, etc.). All maintenance activities must be conducted in accordance with company-established procedures and equipment specifications.
Responsibilities
- Performing regular maintenance on specialized electrical and instrumentation control equipment.
- Develop and document preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Set up and maintain an accurate spare parts inventory for selected equipment.
- Order and receive materials required for day-to-day scheduled work.
- Assist in work order planning and maintain records according to the guidelines set out in the Maintenance Management System (MP2).
- Coordinate work performed by manufacturer representatives on equipment covered under service agreements.
- Coordinate contractor support labor as needed to supplement the core maintenance team.
- Assist in maintaining the accuracy of technical drawings and oversee the technical document control system.
- Collaborate with consultants to plan and execute minor modification projects.
- Participate in the terminal emergency response organization.
- Housekeeping duties.
Ideal Candidate
- Journeyperson Certification in Electrical (Industrial preferred) and/or Construction, or a Diploma in Electrical/Instrumentation combined with significant related experience.
- Experience working in a marine terminal or other hydrocarbon industrial facility. Relevant experience in other industries will be considered.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Current knowledge of hydrocarbon facility safety practices, including incident response, WHMIS, confined space entry, combustible and toxic gas testing, and incident investigation.
- Ability to work within a multi-discipline team environment and collaborate with all facility personnel.
- Hydrocarbon fire-fighting training certification from a recognized training institute considered an asset.
Other Requirements
- The shift schedule for this position is 84 hours every 2-week pay period:
- Week 1: 4 – 12/hr days (Monday - Thursday),
- Week 2: 3 – 12/hr days (Monday - Wednesday).
- The incumbent must be physically fit to work in an industrial facility and to handle incident response duties.
- The incumbent is required to abide by the company substance abuse policy. The position is deemed by the company as “safety sensitive’.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Travel may be required for training and/or professional development.
