What You’ll Do
Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, you'll join a collaborative team that's proud of its local roots and world class products. Supporting multiple locations, you'll gain exposure to diverse teams, complex HR challenges, and variety that helps grow your HR expertise. As the primary point of contact for HR inquiries, you’ll develop deep relationships and a real understanding of the business. This is primarily an onsite role, with hybrid flexibility possible once you build your knowledge and relationships following a successful training period.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- All aspects of employee life-cycle administration and communication - recruitment, onboarding, transfers, offboarding
- Managing full cycle recruitment - job postings, coordination of search and scheduling, conducting interviews, reference checking, preparing offer letters and other documentation relating to the recruitment process
- Creating job descriptions, communications, and assisting with the development of new policies and programs
- Educating employees on benefits, supporting disability management and other leaves of absence
- Tracking HR data, analyzing and producing statistical reports to inform strategies
- Keeping HR files, documentation, and policies accurate, accessible, and compliant
- Employee relations and support - attendance management, policy clarification, disciplinary discussions and documentation, investigations as required
- Providing guidance to Managers concerning policies, attendance and performance management
- Tracking work permit status, consulting with immigration department & legal, and undertaking activities relating to immigration, as required
- Maintaining accurate employee records in ADP, including salary, benefits, and job descriptions
- Management and tracking travel insurances
What You’ll Bring:
- Post secondary education in Business with a Human Resources major ideal, or equivalent education and experience
- A minimum of 3 years of related experience, working within an HR team, ideally in an organisation with multiple locations
- Experience with employee relations, recruitment, employment legislation in Nova Scotia and, ideally, Ontario, staying current on legislative changes and the impact on policy and procedures; some knowledge of US legislation is a definite asset
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Excel, OneDrive, and SharePoint, with a comfort and ease learning new software systems and portals
- Experience with ADP or a comparable HRIS/payroll platform
- Ability to analyse HR data and translate it into meaningful reports and insights
- A consultative approach and ability to represent the department and organization professionally internally and externally
- Experience using AI to improve processes and streamline workflows, within policy parameters
- Professional communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, including attention to detail with multiple stakeholders and priorities
- Flexible and able to work in a dynamic environment, meeting deadlines, sometimes under time constraints
- A valid driver's license with ability to commute to the worksite and other facilities as required
