Overview of the Role

The Terminal Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of the Newfoundland Transshipment Terminal (NTL). Reporting directly to the IMTT’s Chief Operating Officer and the NTL President, the Terminal Manager oversees Operations, Maintenance, Technical Services, and Safety, Health, and Environmental (SH&E) departments. You ensure safe, environmentally responsible, and cost-effective day-to-day operations while delivering exceptional service to customers.


As the Terminal Manager, you will leverage your extensive expertise in hydrocarbon operations and management, as well as leadership, to uphold the highest safety standards, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive operational excellence.


The Terminal Managers areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to:

  • Safety and Environmental Leadership Drive a culture of safety and environmental responsibility by implementing robust strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading emergency preparedness efforts.
  • Operational Excellence Ensure the terminal operates safely, efficiently, and reliably by driving best practices, optimizing processes, and maintaining high standards across all operational activities.
  • Strategic Management, Leadership and Oversight: Develop and manage the terminal’s annual budget, develop and lead a high-performing team, and align operations with organizational priorities.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration Foster strong relationships with industry partners, regulatory agencies, and the local community to resolve issues and enhance the terminal's reputation.
  • Incident Response Leadership Serve as a key leader during incidents, ensuring effective management and mitigation while prioritizing safety and community impact.


Ideal Candidate

  • 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in hydrocarbon operations, such as oil/product terminals, gas plants, refineries, or offshore production facilities.
  • 8 years of experience in management or supervisory roles within industrial hydrocarbon facilities with an emphasis on safety culture.
  • Degree or technological diploma in mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation, or a related field from a recognized institution, or equivalent experience and training.
  • Proven experience leading incident response activities, including fire, oil spill, medical emergencies, and gas release scenarios.
  • In-depth knowledge of safe work practices in hydrocarbon facilities, including marine operations with tankers, and familiarity with International Safety Guide for Oil Tankers and Terminals (ISGOTT), Marine Terminal Management and Self-Assessment (MTMSA), and American Petroleum Institute (API) processes.
  • Strong leadership skills with a commitment to fairness, consistency, and respect for employees.
  • Exceptional communication skills to effectively interact with employees, customers, shareholders, and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.


Requirements

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • A satisfactory background check.
  • A satisfactory medical assessment, drug and alcohol test given the safety sensitive nature of the business.
