Role: Network Support Engineer (2nd Line)

Location: London (Hybrid working)

Salary: Up to £45,000 + 20% bonus

Our client, a leading provider of digital infrastructure and managed services, is hiring a Network Support Engineer (2nd Line) to support and enhance its growing network environment.


This role offers the opportunity to work across a large-scale network, supporting its day-to-day performance while contributing to ongoing improvements and innovation.


What you’ll do

  • Support, maintain, and upgrade network infrastructure
  • Manage and implement network changes with minimal disruption
  • Monitor network performance and respond to incidents
  • Maintain accurate and detailed technical documentation
  • Contribute to the development of technical procedures and knowledge base
  • Resolve incidents, service requests, and escalations within agreed SLAs
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality service
  • Support out-of-hours work where required (planned and reactive)


You’ll work closely with network engineers, internal teams, and customers to ensure a reliable and high-performing network service.


What we’re looking for

  • 2+ years’ experience in a service desk, ISP, MSP, or SME environment
  • Strong hands-on experience with network monitoring and diagnostics tools
  • Solid understanding of routing, switching, and wireless technologies
  • Knowledge of OSI/TCP-IP models and MPLS/VPLS environments
  • Experience with Juniper or Cisco routing, switching, and security platforms


The ideal candidate will bring strong troubleshooting skills, excellent organisation, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.


Desirable experience

  • Certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA-Junos, or equivalent
  • Exposure to BGP, MPLS, VPLS, and dual-stack environments
  • Familiarity with network security technologies
  • ITIL Foundation or similar
  • Experience with CRM/ERP systems (e.g. Salesforce, Oracle)
  • Degree or equivalent practical experience
