Our client is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Defense Hearing Representative to join their growing California-based workers' compensation defense practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing workers' compensation defense matters from evaluation through resolution, representing clients at conferences, negotiating settlements, and collaborating with attorneys and clients to achieve favorable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned caseload of California workers' compensation defense files from inception through resolution.
- Evaluate permanent disability ratings using the AMA Guides and analyze medical records and apportionment issues.
- Prepare and finalize settlement documents, resolve liens, and ensure timely progression of cases.
- Conduct legal research, analyze complex legal issues, and assist in developing effective case strategies.
- Represent clients before Workers' Compensation judges during Mandatory Settlement Conferences, Status Conferences, and Walk-Through settlements.
- Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients while protecting their best interests.
- Maintain consistent communication with clients, providing timely case updates and written status summaries.
- Manage deadlines, prioritize competing responsibilities, and ensure compliance with firm procedures and litigation timelines.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, attorneys, and colleagues.
- Perform additional case management and legal support responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications

2+ years of experience as a Hearing Representative within a California Workers' Compensation Defense practice.
- Strong working knowledge of California workers' compensation laws, procedures, and litigation practices.
- Experience evaluating permanent disability ratings, reviewing medical records, and handling settlement negotiations.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex legal issues.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable utilizing legal technology and case management software.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and legal staff.
