Our client is seeking a skilled Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney to join their growing California workers' compensation defense practice. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is passionate about providing exceptional legal representation while building strong client relationships.

The successful candidate will manage workers' compensation defense matters from inception through resolution, represent clients before the California Workers' Compensation Appeals Board, provide strategic legal counsel, and collaborate with colleagues to achieve successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators in California workers' compensation defense matters.
  • Manage an assigned caseload from initial file review through resolution.
  • Conduct legal research, analyze complex legal issues, and develop effective litigation strategies.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, legal correspondence, settlement agreements, and other litigation documents.
  • Appear before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board for hearings, conferences, depositions, and other proceedings.
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients while achieving favorable outcomes.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, providing timely case updates and strategic recommendations.
  • Effectively manage deadlines, prioritize multiple cases, and ensure compliance with firm procedures and litigation timelines.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, legal support staff, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders throughout the litigation process.
  • Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Perform additional legal responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.
  • Experience practicing California Workers' Compensation Defense is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of California workers' compensation laws, procedures, and litigation practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex legal issues and develop practical legal solutions.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with legal technology and case management software.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
