We are currently in search for a Donor Relations and Membership Associate for a nonprofit organization that engages the community through interdisciplinary exhibitions and educational programs connecting natural science, art, and history, and is part of New York City’s Cultural Institutions Group. This is a part-time, temporary position with an anticipated hourly rate starting at $22/hour. This role will run 9 months.


ORGANIZATION TYPE: Cultural Museum Nonprofit

LOCATION: On Site- Staten Island, NY

POSITION TITLE: Donor Relations and Membership Associate

SCHEDULE: Part-time, 21 hours per weeks- Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm

DURATION: Temporary, 9 months

HOURLY RATE: $22/hr


Is This Your Dream Job? The Donor Relations and Membership Associate will support institutional fundraising and donor engagement efforts by managing daily Development responsibilities and supporting strategic initiatives. The position is responsible for gift processing, donor communications, database management, membership coordination and assisting with special events; all of which serve to advance the museum’s mission.


Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofits
  • 1+ years of experience in development, donor relations, office administration, and data management
  • Experience working with donor databases/CRM systems prefered (Blackbaud Altru, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel and Mail Merge) required
  • Takes initiative and independently manages tasks from start to finish with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to attend special events as needed


How You Will Spend Your Day:


-Donor Relations & Database Administration (60%)

  • Maintain and update constituent records in Blackbaud Altru, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Record and allocate donations and pledges, generating acknowledgement letters and receipts.
  • Produce reports, queries, and exports for development, marketing, audits, membership drives, and annual appeals.
  • Support donor events, including registration, RSVPs, and attendee tracking for major fundraisers.
  • Identify and implement best practices to maximize database functionality.


-Administrative Support (20%)

  • Process mail, correspondence, and maintain organized files.
  • Assist with budget tracking, invoices, and Board meeting logistics.
  • Provide administrative support to the President & CEO, including calendaring, meeting coordination, and document management.


-Membership (20%)

  • Manage seasonal membership campaigns, renewals, and communications.
  • Generate membership cards and reports; respond to member feedback.
  • Prepare membership packages for trustees, volunteers, and complimentary members
