We are currently seeking a Social Worker for a community development nonprofit serving immigrant communities in New York City. This is a full-time, onsite position based in Chinatown, Manhattan.

SALARY:$59,000 + robust benefits package, including health coverage, retirement plan with employer match, generous PTO

Is This Your Dream Job? The Social Worker provides case management, advocacy, and administrative support to low-income immigrant clients. This role focuses on helping clients navigate healthcare, social services, housing, and government benefits while providing thoughtful, culturally responsive support. The Social Worker will also assist with community outreach, workshops, documentation, and funder reporting.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) required.
- Approximately 3 years of relevant case management experience; relevant internship or case management experience completed during an MSW program may count toward this requirement.
- Experience in healthcare and/or social services case management strongly preferred.
- Bilingual/fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese.
- Strong critical-thinking, writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience working in a nonprofit environment and understanding of community-based services.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse, low-income immigrant populations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information confidentially.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Social work licensure is not required.
- Candidates must be authorized to work without employer sponsorship.
How You Will Spend Your Day:
Case Management & Client Services:
- Provide social work and case management support to low-income immigrant clients.
- Assess client needs and develop service plans to address healthcare, social service, housing, and other challenges.
- Assist clients in accessing healthcare, SNAP, state-provided health insurance, government benefits, and other community resources.
- Provide advocacy and follow-up with healthcare providers, government agencies, and service organizations.
- Support clients who may have limited English proficiency and provide Mandarin interpretation as needed.
- Handle more complex case management responsibilities appropriate for an MSW-level professional.
Documentation & Program Support:
- Complete case notes, client documentation, data entry, and file maintenance accurately and on time.
- Maintain accurate client records and enter service data into funder and internal databases.
- Assist with collecting information and preparing reports for funders.
- Support program managers and directors with grant-related documentation and reporting.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive client information.
Community Outreach & Administration:
- Assist with community outreach and recruitment for educational workshops and services.
- Support workshop planning, including materials, client invitations, logistics, and follow-up.
- Represent the organization at community events and promote available services.
- Provide front desk, scheduling, and general administrative support as needed.
- Collaborate with volunteers, interns, community partners, and other program staff.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and organizational activities.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience working with immigrant and/or limited-English-proficient populations.
- Experience with funder reporting and program data.
- Additional nonprofit social services experience.
- Familiarity with government-funded social service programs.
- Understanding of the current nonprofit funding environment.
