The Opportunity

Reporting to the B2C Operations Manager, the Food Store Manager is a key member of the leadership team and is responsible for the overall performance, operations, and strategic direction of the Portage Food Store.


This role provides leadership to department teams, ensuring operational excellence, strong financial performance, and an exceptional customer experience. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving sales, developing talent, and aligning store operations with broader organizational goals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to Food Store Team Leaders and staff
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance
  • Drive sales performance through effective merchandising, marketing, and customer engagement strategies
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to support strategic initiatives and long-term planning
  • Lead talent development, including coaching, performance management, and team engagement
  • Ensure store standards are maintained across image, fixed assets, and operational processes
  • Monitor financial performance and implement strategies to improve profitability
  • Foster a positive, customer-focused culture within the store

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of progressive retail management experience
  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering service excellence
  • Grade 12 diploma required; post-secondary education in business or a related field is preferred
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends
