Lupton Partners Job Posting: Associate Litigation Attorney

Overview


Lupton Partners is recruiting for the position of Associate Litigation Attorney on behalf of our client, a small, Overland Park-based law firm specializing in both defense and plaintiff-side litigation across a range of commercial practice areas. This firm offers a reasonable billable hour goal of approximately 1,800 hours per year and a strong compensation structure that includes a competitive base salary and a robust bonus program.

This role is ideal for an attorney with 1-5 years of litigation experience, whether on the defense or plaintiff side. Experience in workers’ compensation litigation is highly valued but not required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Case Management: Handle a diverse litigation caseload, including commercial disputes, business litigation, and potentially workers’ compensation matters.
  • Legal Research & Writing: Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Courtroom Representation: Conduct depositions, attend hearings, and represent clients in trials and mediations.
  • Client Interaction: Maintain direct communication with clients, providing strategic guidance and case updates.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with partners and senior attorneys to develop case strategies and deliver strong legal advocacy.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all case files and legal work comply with relevant procedural and regulatory requirements.


Qualifications

  • Education: J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Bar Admission: Active bar license in Kansas or eligibility for admission.
  • Experience: 1-5 years of litigation experience in plaintiff or defense practice.
  • Preferred Background: Experience in workers’ compensation law is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Work Ethic: Ability to manage caseload efficiently while maintaining a client-focused approach.

  • Base Salary: Starting at $100,000, with potential for higher pay based on experience.
