Commercial Director

POSITION SUMMARY:


The Commercial Director is a key leadership role responsible for developing and executing our company's commercial strategy across Sales, Marketing, New Product Development, and New Market Expansion. The sales director will be the responsible for achieving the company growth plans.


This position is charged with leading teams, optimizing cross-functional alignment, and driving top-line revenue growth. Success in this role requires strong leadership, strategic vision, and operational discipline to ensure the fulfillment of monthly and annual budget targets.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Sales & Business Development


-       Design and implement our company’s commercial strategy aligned with company vision and growth targets across all channels: Retail, Foodservice, Ingredients, Resale (Spot), and DSD.

-       Lead and manage the sales team to achieve revenue goals and KPIs.

-       Expand DSD (Direct Store Delivery) presence beyond existing markets. (w/AT)

-       Oversee pricing control and discount/trade spend decision-making across all channels.

-       Guide the sales team on bidding processes and strategic client acquisition.

-       Develop a CRM database to monitor and improve customer loyalty, purchase behaviors, and retention.

-       Own the development and execution of the variable sales compensation plan.

-       Conduct market analysis and competitor benchmarking to identify opportunities for growth.

-       Monitor product availability and proactively manage critical stock to reduce risk of losses. (AT)

-       Build and deliver a structured sales training program to onboard clients into our company's ecosystem. (AT)

-       Explore, plan, and execute cross-merchandising opportunities with external partners.

-       Manage trade show participation, including strategy, logistics, prospecting, and ROI analysis. (w/ AT)


Marketing & Advertising (AT)


-       Lead the creation and execution of the annual marketing plan.

-       Maintain consistent institutional brand presence across relevant channels, media, and markets.

-       Strategize and produce digital content to grow our company’s online presence, including e-commerce.

-       Manage our company’s digital platforms, including website development and maintenance.

-       Develop and implement promotional and POS materials (e.g., shippers, displays) to boost in-store visibility.

-       Establish secondary placement strategies to increase product exposure at retail.

-       Update and modernize the brand's sales collateral and visual identity.

-       Strengthen B2B customer engagement through database marketing (e.g., events, loyalty initiatives).

-       Improve retail relationships, especially between DSD teams and supermarket staff, to enhance execution.


Innovation, R&D & Product Development (w/AT)


-       Build and manage our company’s innovation pipeline with a focus on market needs and production efficiency.

-       Be the final decision-maker on all product development projects and innovation execution.

-       Lead the “end-to-end” product development process — from ideation through launch.

-       Oversee all aspects of new product execution, including pricing, packaging, regulatory compliance, shelf life, and food safety.

-       Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Production, Quality, Operations, Sourcing, Finance) to ensure timely and cost-effective product launches.

-       Conduct regular client and internal feedback sessions to identify product gaps and generate ideas.

-       Develop products that leverage production by-products to maximize resource efficiency.

-       Review and enhance our company's packaging portfolio to improve market relevance and sustainability.

Preferred Qualifications:


-       Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (MBA preferred)

-       10+ years of experience in Commercial/Sales leadership roles, preferably in the food or CPG industry, with focus on retail.

-       Proven track record of achieving sales growth and leading innovation initiatives, leading sales teams and delivering execution

-       Experience managing CRM systems, digital platforms, and trade marketing activities
