Account Manager – Chicago Area

About the Role

We are seeking a driven Account Manager to join our team and lead enterprise sales efforts in the Chicago market. This role focuses on selling advanced networking and observability solutions, with a strong emphasis on Network Performance Monitoring (NPM) and Application Performance Monitoring (APM) software. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of building relationships with Fortune 500 customers, consistently achieving quota, and driving new business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage sales activities within an assigned territory, with a focus on enterprise accounts.
  • Build and execute a strategic territory plan targeting Fortune 1000 companies in the Chicago area.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships at multiple levels, including C-suite executives and IT leaders.
  • Prospect, source, and close new business opportunities, while expanding footprint within existing accounts.
  • Collaborate with Sales Engineers and internal teams to provide technical and strategic support for customers.
  • Maintain a healthy pipeline of at least 4X quota through continuous prospecting and territory development.
  • Accurately forecast, manage bookings, and adhere to company sales processes and revenue policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA is a plus.
  • 6–15 years of field sales experience in enterprise technology (Computer Networking, Service Assurance, NPM, APM).
  • Demonstrated success selling into IT/Data Centers and to Fortune 500 organizations.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise technology, networking, and observability markets.
  • Formal sales training (e.g., MEDDIC, Command of the Message, Solution Selling, etc.) preferred.
  • Proven record of quota achievement and territory growth.
  • Ability to work independently with large, complex accounts while balancing hunting for net-new logos.
  • Must reside in the Chicago area.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Target OTE: $240K–$260K (base + commission. 50/50).
