Career Connections Recruiting is partnering with a highly respected educational services provider to find an experienced Special Education Teacher who will plan and deliver specialized instruction in a variety of classroom and inclusive settings. You’ll lead development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), monitor student progress, and collaborate closely with parents, support staff, and community resources to maximize each learner’s success.
Key Responsibilities
- Employ special education strategies and techniques to support IEP goals
- Adapt lessons and materials to meet individual and group learning needs
- Administer assessments and developmental tests to inform IEP development
- Teach socially appropriate behaviors using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques
- Design and maintain data‑collection systems; routinely update programs for measurable progress
- Plan daily and long‑term instructional and staffing arrangements
- Implement curriculum with fidelity; train and coach classroom staff on academic and behavioral programs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including instructional staff, school personnel, and families—to enhance student outcomes
- Maintain accurate student records (attendance, special education paperwork, reports) in compliance with regulations
- Ensure a safe, positive learning environment across all educational settings (classroom, inclusive locations, recess, etc.)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
- Frequent sitting, walking, running, standing, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, stooping, kneeling, and crawling
- May assist with physical interventions to ensure student safety
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly and follow detailed instructions in a changing environment
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid PA Instructional I or II Special Education Certification
- Experience working with students on the Autism Spectrum; familiarity with inclusion practices and ABA programming preferred
- Certification in emergency prevention & intervention strategies
- Current First Aid & CPR certification
- Completion of all required PA Department of Education trainings
- Demonstrated ability to train and coach staff in service delivery and crisis prevention/intervention techniques
Preferred Education & Skills
- Master’s degree in Special Education
- Strong organizational, leadership, and relationship‑building skills
- Service‑oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities and frequent interruptions
- Proactive problem‑solving skills and a positive, flexible approach to change
- Exceptional communication, tact, patience, and courtesy
