Our client was founded over 27 years ago by technologists to build the fastest, high-frequency trading platform in the world. Based in New York City, they have a footprint in eleven major metros globally. We are looking for an experienced Windows Server Engineer to be part of a growing New York City team focused on developing the next-generation, world-class, high-frequency trading platform and our client’s internal development tools.


We are hiring a Principal Software Engineer to join our client’s Core Platform team. This role will be based in NYC and will work a hybrid schedule (three days in the office/week). The Principal Software engineer will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining the core platform and development tools that empower their engineering teams to accelerate the delivery of high-quality software solutions.


You Will:

  • Developing and maintaining the strategy for tools that support developer productivity, systems, DevOps practices, CI/CD infrastructure (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI), and deployment automation
  • Optimizing build systems (e.g., Buck2, CMake), artifact management (e.g., Artifactory), and related infrastructure
  • Automate developer workflows, ensuring high reliability, fast iteration cycles, and rapid feedback loops
  • Collaborate with product development, infrastructure, platform, security, and QA teams on respective projects
  • Define and measure developer productivity KPIs, such as build speed, failure rates, deployment frequency, MTTR, and time-to-market
  • Integrate monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for developer tooling and systems
  • Drive continuous improvement and reliability engineering practices
  • Lead, mentor, and scale a team of Software and DevOps engineers


You Have: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience in software development or DevOps 
  • At least 3-5 years of team management or technical leadership experience
  • Deep technical knowledge of languages C++, Rust, and Python
  • Expertise in building tools, dependency management, and packaging (e.g., Buck2, CMake)
  • Strong experience with DevOps tooling (e.g. CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (Git), container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and IaC
  • Experience with Cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS) and a strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems
  • The ability to lead and motivate technical teams
  • The ability to manage projects and stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • A systematic approach to troubleshooting and solving complex productivity or infrastructure issues
  • Experience in performance optimization and scalability.


Preferred Certifications:

  • AWS/GCP certifications
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
  • DevOps-related certifications (e.g., DevOps Foundation, Jenkins Engineer Certification, Terraform Associate).
